Solar energy is a marked in rapid growth and an expanding activity at IFE. We are looking for a strong candidate to further increase the capacity and competence of the research group. The candidate should have education within physics, power electronics or computational physics or relevant experience within PV systems. Competence within programming, especially Python, is also highly relevant. Further, we seek a candidate that can work independently, but also participate actively in the group, has strong skills in English, and a positive attitude. The work in the group is mostly carried out in collaboration with industry and other research groups, hence good communication skills are important, and some travelling must be anticipated.

The main tasks can include analysis of data from PV power plants, often in conjunction with outer energy systems, project management, laboratory work and field measurements, development of new research projects, and scientific publishing. The Solar Power Systems department at IFE performs research on the performance of PV systems, including degradation, monitoring and operations and maintenance of PV plants and PV hybrid power plants. We also work with the development of PV modules, accelerated aging tests, and laboratory characterization. Our focus is towards applied research in close collaboration with leading Norwegian and European companies and research institutions.

Arbeidsoppgaver

In this position, you will be working on various projects and your tasks will include:

  • Analysis of data from PV power plants, also in conjunction with other energy systems
  • Active collaboration with other departments at IFE, research partners and the industry
  • Publication of research papers
  • Communication and presentation of research results
  • Project management with close industry collaboration
  • Initiate and write research project proposals

Kvalifikasjoner

The position involves research and analysis of PV systems and experience in time series analysis is an advantage. We are looking for a candidate that holds a master or PhD degree, and with background/experience within some of the following fields:

  • PhD within physics, electrical engineering, or power electronics (or similar)
  • Experience with analysis of data from PV systems
  • Experience within Energy/power systems
  • Experience with computational physics from industry or research
  • Experience with programming in Phyton
  • Experience with machine learning
  • Experience within publication of research papers
  • Excellent oral and written English
  • Fluency in oral and written Norwegian is preferable, but no prerequisite
