About the role
Technical support in Ship Classification provides global support and governance to all DNV’s regions in the daily operations and surveys of vessels. Technical Support consists of 10 units whereby 5 of these units are in Høvik, 3 in Hamburg along with 3 hub units located in Greece, Houston and Singapore. Together, we cover all technical disciplines which are relevant for vessels in operation and their needs. With all these units located strategically, we can provide 24/7 service to our customers via remote surveys and DATE® - Direct Access to Technical Experts service.
Class Systematics & Operational Centre is a key unit in technical support. This unit make up the core team in operational centre with focus on handling remote surveys, DATE cases within own discipline. In our daily work our section provides technical expertise within our disciplines to DNV’s fleet in service stakeholders - both internal and external. The unit is also responsible for DNV’s Class Systematics and Remote Surveys. We cooperate closely with other discipline units in Technical Support. The section is consisting with 6 experienced technical experts. We are looking for a skilled and motivated surveyor/engineer to join this highly evolving, demanding, and exciting section.
Area of responsibilities and key tasks
- Through our digital tools, deliver our core services as Remote Surveys and DATE (direct access to technical experts) to support fleet-wide compliance for ship managers and owners
- Be part of developing the digital class service fit for future
- Be part of the operational centre duty team
- Participation and presentation at customer meetings, experience exchange seminars etc
- Contribute to maintaining our superior quality in systems and class deliverables

To be successful in the role you should have:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree relevant for the intended role
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as FIS surveyor is preferred, and candidates with lesser experience will be considered as well
- High performance and comfortable with hectic workdays
- Flexible, service minded, and positive attitude
- Solution oriented and can-do attitude
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new ways of working
- Excellent verbal & written proficiency in English
