Technical advisor

Solar power is a rapidly growing market area in Norconsult, and we are looking for a new colleague for the utility-scale segment. The candidate will mainly assist clients with the development of solar projects and/or BESS in the Nordics and beyond, and she/he should have experience with ground mounted PV plants or large-scale rooftop systems. Experience with floating solar (FPV) or utility-scale BESS is a plus.

This is a junior or senior position depending on the candidate and our expectations with regards to qualifications will adapt to the candidate’s background.

Location in Sandvika in Norway is preferred but other cities where Norconsult is present may be considered for senior candidates. Some travelling must be expected.

General responsibilities of the position are:

• Consulting (analysis/engineering) in all phases of solar power and BESS assignments
• Project management and/or discipline lead in assignments
• Business development of the solar power business area in Norconsult
• Knowledge creation and transfer in Norconsult and externally
• Contribution to development of tools, routines, and work processes

Depending on the candidate, relevant tasks may be:

• Engineering of solar power plants during early project phases and detailed design, including CAD work and electrical/mechanical design
• Technical and economic analysis of hybrid projects (PV + wind/hydro/BESS)
• Analytical work related to energy generation: climate data, EYA, PCPA, forecasting
• Other analytical work: sites, technologies, equipment, financial modeling, market trends, risks, etc.
• Project development activities towards grid owners, authorities, suppliers etc. supporting clients or acting on their behalf
• Contracting activities: development of technical specifications, tender evaluation, contract review etc.
• Inspections/owner’s engineer services/construction management
• Technical due diligence
• Market activities such as responding to RfPs

The ideal candidate is/has many of these qualifications and personal qualities:

• Higher education in relevant field of study
• Experience with development, analysis, design, construction and/or operation of utility-scale PV plants or BESS assets
• Experience with interdisciplinary RE projects
• Experience as an advisor/consultant/analytic
• Experience with MS Office Suite, PVsyst, CAD tools, PV plant design software, Homer, Python, VBA
• Established network in the industry
• Committed and self-driven, but also a team player
• Contributor to a good social and professional environment
• Identifies with our core values
• Good communication skills in Scandinavian language and English, both written and oral
