The ERS, Hull & Materials section supports the global maritime industry through technical advisory services, emergency response, hull structural assessments, survey support, and vessel integrity evaluations. Our team combines expertise in ship structures, materials, classification, and emergency response to help customers operate safely and sustainably.

Typical tasks as a Summer Student in ERS, Hull & Materials will be:

  • Development and verification of vessel structural models using Nauticus Hull
  • Interpretation of ship drawings and technical documentation
  • Support to DNV's Emergency Response Service (ERS)
  • Preparation of Executive Hull Summaries (EHS)
  • Assistance with technical helpdesk cases and customer support activities
  • Review of survey documentation and hull findings
  • Data quality improvement and technical documentation tasks
  • Participation in technical trainings, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions

Depending on your background and interests, you may also have opportunities to participate in technical analyses, rule interpretation work, and other activities.

About you

Who are we looking for:

  • A student pursuing a BSc or MSc degree in a relevant engineering field
  • A strong interest in maritime technology and ship structures
  • An analytical mindset with a passion for solving technical challenges
  • A proactive, curious, and eager-to-learn attitude
  • Good communication skills in English
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Previous knowledge of ship structures, finite element analysis, classification rules, or maritime operations is beneficial but not required.
