The section Floating Structures in department Structures is looking for structural engineers to meet an increasing demand for our services in the market and strategic growth ambitions.

Department Structures in service area Offshore Infrastructure & Technology in business area Energy Systems in DNV is a leading competence center within assessments of loadbearing structures, serving the offshore industry across ocean-based sectors. A total work force of 150 subject matter experts (100 in Norway and 50 in Germany) are working in teams of world leading experts with different aspects of structural integrity for load bearing structures such as fixed and floating wind turbines, solar plants, oil and gas structures, fish farms and floating bridges.

Department Structures is responsible for technical advisory and verification services for assessments of load bearing structures in Region Northern Europe, but also supports other regions and business areas in DNV, such as Offshore Class and Renewables Certification, and work closely with business area Digital Solutions in developing next generation software and framework for analyses and design of loadbearing structures. The department is at the forefront of technology and leads the offshore industry forward through among others leading Joint Industry Projects and developing rules and guidelines.

We are looking for candidates who have ambitions to grow as specialists within structural engineering, and in addition want to develop a broader and more holistic understanding of our business and loadbearing structures in general. The candidate will be given excellent opportunity to grow expertise through project work, technology and service development, and solving complex matters for the offshore industry in multidisciplinary project teams. Our projects cover all sides of structural integrity related matters like assessments of environmental loads, foundations and mooring systems, structural behaviour, functionality and capacity of structures, asset integrity management, life extension, decommissioning of structures and marine operations during transport and installation.

In general, subject matter experts work both as project team members and project managers and contribute with technology and service development, customer interaction and tendering work dependent on seniority and demand.

The Structural Engineer reports to Head of Section and is a member of a highly skilled team of 40 subject matter experts located at Høvik (Oslo), Trondheim and Stavanger. These experts are working in two equally sized sections responsible for structural analyses and capacity checks, i.e. the sections Fixed Structures and Floating Structures. The two sections work very integrated, e.g., the two sections mutually share their resources depending on project requirements and individual development needs. The sections are seated in common office landscapes. The collaboration between the sections ensures that employees can work on a wide range of projects and develop a broad understanding.

The two sections serve clients with advisory and verification services both in single discipline projects owned by own unit as well as multidisciplinary projects owned by other parts of DNV across ocean-based sectors. Primary tasks of this role are structural FE analyses and structural capacity assessments for a wide range of offshore loadbearing structures such as fixed and floating wind turbines, substations, jackets, and various types of floating units (floating bridges, offshore fish farms, semisubmersibles, TLPs and ship shaped units).

Both sections are currently recruiting. If you are interested in a position in one of the sections, it’s sufficient to apply for one of the open positions. The managers in the two sections will coordinate all applicants in a common way. Our main objective is to recruit employees to DNV’s office in Trondheim. However, candidates interested in a position in Stavanger or Oslo are also welcomed to apply.
