We are growing and are now looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Solution Architect to help design and shape the next generation of digital solutions within our Information Systems environment.

What you will work with

As a Solution Architect, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical specifications. You will work closely with stakeholders, developers, and product teams to ensure that complex requirements are translated into robust, scalable, and technical solutions.

In this role you will be part of a multidisciplinary environment where knowledge sharing, and innovation are central to how we work. You will join the Information Systems Department – an engaged professional environment with 15 skilled project managers, architects, and developers. Location

Our office is centrally located in Fredrikstad, with easy access to public transport and a wide range of nearby shops, cafes, and services. You will work alongside more than 200 colleagues at COWI Fredrikstad as part of a vibrant and multidisciplinary technology environment.

Technologies and Tools We Use

  • .NET and C#
  • Angular (frontend)
  • MS SQL
  • Docker, Rancher, and Kubernetes
  • Azure DevOps (build, test, and deployment)

Key responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into technical solutions - Analyse requirements and translate them into concrete, feasible technical specifications.
  • Design holistic solution architectures - Develop scalable, secure and maintainable architectures across systems and services.
  • Ensure coherence between business and technology - Work closely with product owners, developers and other stakeholders to ensure that the solution supports business goals.
  • Technology selection and architectural direction - Evaluate and recommend technology, frameworks and integration patterns (e.g. .NET, APIs, cloud and container technologies).
  • Quality and non-functional requirements - Be responsible for ensuring that the solutions meet performance, security, scalability and operability requirements.
  • Support the development teams - Follow up on architectural choices throughout the development cycle and be a professional sparring partner in the implementation.
  • Contribute to standards and best practices - Further develop architectural principles, guidelines and methodology in the organization.

On top of that you bring

  • Experience as a Solution Architect or similar role in software development
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, integration, and cloud-based solutions
  • Experience with technologies such as .NET, APIs, and modern web architectures is an advantage
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • A structured, proactive, and collaborative mindset
  • Strong verbal and written skills in both Norwegian and English
