Want to be part of Norway's most innovative company?

Imagine being the mastermind behind the scenes, orchestrating the digital transformation for Norway's leading financial institution. Picture yourself as a crucial part of a team that's redefining what banking looks like - not just for DNB, but for the entire financial industry. As a DevOps Engineer with us, you're not just working on any ordinary project; you're part of a pioneering group shaping the future of finance.

The Integration and Flow Tech Family

The Integration and Flow Tech Family is responsible for the integration architecture and governance across DNB. This includes building a Hybrid Integration Platform for synchronous and asynchronous integration, defining, and governing the API and Event-based integration guidelines and patterns, and performing integration solution architecture for business-driven initiatives. We have for a while been on a journey to encapsulate our legacy systems into standardized and reusable REST API services and are now adding async/event-based integration patterns, using streaming technologies like Kafka as a centralized Event Hub.

Our APIs are decoupled from the legacy systems they expose through caching and data replication mechanisms, and from the channels they serve through standardized formats. Our main platform for API processing is currently on AWS, but we are building a multi-cloud strategy to gradually off-load and replace our on-premises legacy platforms and systems. The Integration Platform will play a large role in this journey

Who are you?

We are looking for a DevOps engineer with a growth mindset who inspire colleagues and external partners with a mix of humbleness and initiative. You are passionate about technology and have a strong interest in learning about and playing with new technologies. Almost equally important is your ability to be a good team player and understanding the need to cooperate with others to reach great results.

Your mission

As a DevOps Engineer, you will join a team of engaged and dedicated engineers who are working to design, build and govern the integration platform. You will interact closely with Architects, Product Owners, Operations engineers, and other Developers. Together you will drive the design and implementation of the integration platform and then run it in production. You will also work with other teams to get them onboarded to the integration platform, suggesting application frameworks, APIs, data streams and other integration solutions which best fit according to the needs.

You'll participate in everything from concept till production. We focus on creating the best self-service enabled platform and contribute to best practices and knowledge sharing internally as well as externally. In this position, you will play a significant role in exploring, defining, and scaling our future data streams platform.

Background and technical skills:

We are looking for a skilled person towards distributed data infrastructure management with a good hands-on development knowledge in technologies like Kubernetes, Java, Python, and open-source data streaming technologies like Kafka. You will help us accelerate our adoption of the Kafka ecosystem by creating a framework for leveraging modern technologies. We prefer that you have completed higher technical education, but we also acknowledge that extensive relevant experience may make up for this. You must be fluent in English (both oral and written). Norwegian skills are a plus.

Required Job Skills:

  • 5-10 years of experience in Information Technology
  • Solid knowledge of agile software development methodologies and best practices
  • Experience working with leading public cloud platforms like AWS & Azure
  • Good knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and Software Delivery Life Cycle
  • Working knowledge of configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters
  • Strong networking skills and understanding of how to secure communication across applications
  • Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of physical as well as cloud infrastructure
  • Practical experience with relevant security mechanisms (SASL/SSL/TLS)
  • Experience with systems design and code review processes

Note that if you do not match all stated requirements, but still think you would be a good fit for this role, we urge you to apply anyway. The combination of right mindset and relevant experience might still qualify you.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with development in Java Spring, JS, Python or Kotlin
  • Working knowledge of Kafka messaging system implementation, administration and development, any other related data streaming products
  • Certification in Kubernetes administration track is a plus

What you get

Challenging tasks that allow you to grow professionally in a new team, competitive terms, a strong engineering culture, and good career opportunities. We offer good pension conditions, employee terms on DNBs products, insurance schemes, access to resorts in Norway and abroad, sports, cultural and other activities plus a wide range of discount schemes. In addition, knowledge and experiences are our most important assets, so you will have the opportunity to participate in conferences and courses, both to build your own competency and to represent DNB externally. We know the value of good work-life balance, so we also have flexible working hours, extra days off and reduced working hours from May to August (summer time).

Location: Oslo, Bjørvika

Application Deadline: 30.11.2023. Applicants are assessed on an ongoing basis. Start-up for the position is as soon as possible, or by appointment.
