About the role

DNV SeaSkill™ is supporting competence building in the maritime industry, by certifying

  • Maritime simulator systems used for training, assessment and research
  • Learning programmes
  • Competence management systems
  • Training institutions
  • Training platform providers.

We develop and maintain competence standards and recommended practices for areas of activities for which no established regulatory or industry competence standards yet exist.

The SeaSkill™ business is driven by a global network of auditors and a Governance Unit which is maintaining the certification standards and safeguarding consistent delivery of our high-quality services.

As Simulator Certification Specialist in the SeaSkill™ Governance Unit your main responsibilities are:

  • Provide SeaSkill™ certification services to our customers with a strong focus on Simulators
  • Advise internally (Auditors, Assessors, BD & Sales) on SeaSkill- and Simulator related matters
  • Drive the development of our Simulator certification standard, observing industry & research trends
  • Liaise with Simulator manufacturers, maritime administrations, industry organisations and IMO on development and use of Simulators
  • Support marketing & sales activities for SeaSkill™ services, with a strong focus on Simulators

About you

You will succeed in this position if you have

  • A degree in Engineering and/or Instructional Design
  • Profound understanding of Simulator technology
  • Relevant professional experience in Simulator installation and/or operations, and/or operational experience from maritime or offshore industry
  • Passion for learning design and development of certification standards
  • Experience in performing audits and assessments.
