Andøya Spaceport officially opened in November 2023 and is on track to becoming Europe’s first mainland launch site for small satellite launch vehicles (SSLVs). The first out of four launch pads is currently in operation and will host the maiden test flight of ISAR Aerospace’s Spectrum launch vehicle this year.
The Operations Department is responsible for preparing for and conducting ground and launch operations at Andøya Spaceport in accordance with established regulations and best safety practices. To prepare for increasing cadence, we seek candidates with relevant experience and motivation to join the dynamic team.
You should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (i.e. aerospace, defence, safety, engineering, oil&gas, maritime...). Experience from the operational domain would be an asset.
If selected for the positions you will be assigned responsibilities according to experience and receive training and assignment to become part of the operational team for ground and launch operations.
This is an ambitious project in a rapidly evolving NewSpace environment; we seek candidates with initiative, independence, flexibility, and willingness to take responsibility. The positions will be located on Andøya.
Working tasks/responsibilities
- Prepare, plan and conduct operations as Flight Safety Officer, Meteorology Officer, Ground Safety Officer, Maritime Surveillance Officer, Launch Safety Officer or other operational roles.
- Support systems procurement with operational input.
- Help to develop and conduct operational training.
- Conduct risk and safety assessments and prepare plans and procedures.
- Support and maintain a good and just safety culture.
- Help collect and implement lessons learned from operations.
- Support customers (new and existing) on the spaceport.
Qualifications - education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (i.e. aerospace, defence, safety, engineering, oil&gas, maritime, …). Experience can compensate for lacking formal competences.
- Experience in project management, space systems/industry, launchers or ground systems technology and/or operations would be an asset.
- Experience with safety in hazardous environments would be an asset.
- Fluent in written and oral English
- Driver’s license class B
