About the role
For our Technology Centre in Bergen we are seeking an enthusiastic and result-oriented Laboratory Manager. A successfull candidate demonstrate a technical and commercial mindset, have a pro-active attitude and are structured in organizing control of equipment and tasks.
The position will take active part in the section’s projects and in tenders as borth the technical resource, project manager and bid manager. We have a high focus on safety, and it is expected that you take an active role in the HSEQ work and development at the Technology Centre.
It is expected that the position will be 50 % allocated to the Laboratory Manager role and 50 % allocated to project work.
The lab manager will report to the Head of Section and be part of the section management team. Targeted start date is as soon as possible.
Key tasks for the position:
- Optimize business operations and develop the long-term performance of laboratory equipment and activities
- Develop and strengthen the culture for safe operations and business growth
- Responsible for the laboratories at any time operates according to agreed standards
- Stimulate collaboration within the team as well across the organization
- Project execution and activities in projects
- Responsible for operational availability for control equipment, machinery and tools, as well as control of warehouse / logistics
- Cooperation with Team leads with regards to laboratory usages, availability, operational status and HSEQ
- Support our technology experts with setup and development of structural- and large scale testing, materials- and component testing, corrosion and coating testing, as well as metallurgical examination and failure investigation
- Maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and setup of laboratory equipment

About you
We are looking for a candidate with BSc or MSc within relevant discipline (materials technology, project management or others), combined with operational experience from offshore/ onshore industry or mechanical work.
A successful candidate should:
- Have a unique interest in technology, and preferably experience from laboratory work and management.
- Have experience from materials testing or industrial production plant. It is also important to have knowledge of industrial standards and framework within materials technology
- Be comfortable to delegate/lead with distributed leadership style
- Have a customer oriented mindset and excellent communication skills
- It is important that you cultivate a broad and diverse network, an enjoy working in teams and sharing your knowledge
- You have digital skills, and interest in applying these skills to enhance value and efficiency of services
- Be fluent in Norwegian and English languages, both verbal and written.
The laboratories have activities at a 24/7 basis throughout the year. It is expected that the laboratory manager is available for events that require attendance; therefore permanent residence in the local Bergen area is expected.
