Do you want to shape the development of the acoustics profession and lead the professional work on some of Norway's most complex and prestigious projects? In the next few years, we are involved in exciting projects such as the Ruud Videregående Skole, Hamar Stasjon, Keflavik Airport, Regjeringskvartalet and Stavanger Universitetssjukehus. COWI is an international consulting engineering company with around 1350 employees in Norway. Our service areas cover acoustics, noise, vibrations, electroacoustics, stage engineering and consultancy in cultural buildings. COWI's acoustic environment in Norway has been among the industry's strongest over the past ten years. Our acoustics unit in Norway is recognized as a well-established and cooperative environment.

Our acoustics staff has a holistic approach to the design of, among other things, cultural and educational buildings, airports and hospital buildings where we hold a strong position. Through our Scandinavian professional environment, we also benefit from each other's professional networks and expertise across COWI's acoustic environment in Norway and Denmark.

You are a promoter of professional development, collaboration and high quality

As Head of Discipline, you will become part of our global team of experts. You will work closely with Head of Engineering, our marketing team and COWI's acoustic environment in Norway. Your main tasks will be to develop your employees, contribute to marketing and tender work, as well as to ensure that assignments are carried out with the right expertise.

You will have the opportunity to work with:

  • Lead and role model according to COWI’s leadership behaviours and values
  • Act as senior specialist / discipline lead on projects
  • Lead discipline group of approximately 20 people outside their project work, responsible for technical & professional development, and keeps an up-to-date view of the technical competencies of engineers in group as needed as input for effective staffing processes
  • Provide input to head of engineering for strategic workforce planning process, with responsibility for executing hiring, firing and promotions in accordance with plans, demand and performance
  • Responsible for driving employee engagement and encouraging a high-performance, diverse and inclusive culture

On top of that, you will have:

  • Master's degree in acoustics
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in consultancy within acoustics or noise
  • Good overview and insight into the field of acoustics
  • You have good business understanding and the ability to create results
  • Good language skills in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken
  • Managerial experience is desirable, but not a requirement as we also are looking for advisors

COWI has customers and projects that may require security clearance at various levels. There may therefore be requirements for security clearance in some projects/positions.
