About the role
We are looking for Head of Section for one of our CMC units in Region North Europe, Area Norway
Region North Europe consists of three Areas, each structured as service line organizations. The present Head of Section in one of our three CMC units in Area Norway is seeking new opportunities within DNV and we are looking for his replacement.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Area Manager in Norway and be part of an engaged management team driven by high experience and a motivation to help and support our customers through consistent delivery of high-quality services.
The main responsibilities of the section are:
- Perform surveys on vessels and platforms, at manufacturers and at shipyards for classification and compliance with statutory requirements
- Plan, schedule and coordinate the various phases of surveying and monitor the quality of service on the work performed
- Prepare technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys
- Engage with our clients to resolve problems within areas of expertise
The Head of Section tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and having people management of a team of surveyors, in also establishing and maintaining a trustful collaboration within own team
- Following up the team with respect through coaching and motivation, in addition to developing local talents and build succession.
- Ensuring strong and trustful collaboration and competence management of all surveyors in the team.
- Following up and supporting local customers as applicable.
- Ensure that the required competence and capacity is available to conduct the unit operations with the required quality, and that mandatory competence schemes are adhered to.
- Ensure verification of quality of the work performed according to relevant standards.
- Prioritizing QHSE considerations within the section to ensure safe execution and healthy work environment.
- Supporting and driving our DNV purpose and vision throughout the section in addition to fulfilling responsibilities of line management per DNV Leadership Expectations.
The candidate must expect some travelling.

The successful candidate is expected to have

- Good understanding of the maritime industry and knowledge wrt the responsibilities listed above
- Broad experience and relevant MTAS qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and networking skills

- Good analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
- A good working understanding of our governing documents (Rules, WPI, DMS, Local OP, etc)
