About us

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management. Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence.

As a trusted voice for many of the world’s most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About the role

Are you passionate about sustainability? We are looking for an Intern in Group Sustainability, Development & Climate autumn 2026!

In a company of more than 15,000 employees, how do we motivate, engage, and support our colleagues to work sustainably? We are looking for a passionate intern with good communication and analytical skills, with studies related to sustainability, to join our Group Sustainability development and Climate team at DNV headquarters at Høvik outside Oslo from August 2026.

DNV has offices around the world. At DNV headquarters, we set the overall strategic direction of the company, shape the culture of the organisation, and develop the behaviours needed to deliver on our purpose and vision to be a trusted voice to tackle global transformations. Our team is responsible for finding ways to reduce DNV’s carbon footprint by travelling less, commuting sustainably, creating the path to Net Zero and reporting on ESG. The sustainability team is part of Group Communications, Public affairs and Sustainability, a very international team of 25 people.

What will you do?

Reducing emissions is a priority for DNV. Working with Group Sustainability development and Climate, you will provide support to projects that have a real impact on our carbon footprint. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization on sustainability.

Our previous interns have benchmarked our ESG reporting, measured the carbon emissions from employee commuting (scope 3 emissions), written articles and created videos about our initiatives, organised Sustainability Day, created content for our internal communication channels and interviewed our CEO. If you are passionate about sustainability and finding creative and meaningful ways for employees to integrate this into everyday business, this is the internship for you!

Note: tasks may vary according to your competence profile, interests and business needs.

Location: Oslo, Norway

Reporting: Group Sustainability, Development & Climate

When: August 2026 (autumn internship)

Type of contract: Internship contract

What we offer

What can we offer you?

  • Our autumn internship is a great opportunity to see what it is like to work in DNV and get hands on experience within sustainability. During the internship you will have an ‘intern supervisor’ to make sure that you are well looked after, understand your tasks and encourage your development. Give your theoretical understanding a practical application – gain experience far beyond a textbook
  • DNV’s headquarters are in a large campus surrounded by forest and the fjord. Your day could include a morning swim and joining our informal mid-week treat to get to know colleagues. The campus has a shuttlebus from Skøyen and Sandvika morning and afternoon. We have a subsidized canteen, two well-equipped gyms and excellent changing facilities with bicycle storage. Employees can indoor exercise classes or sports clubs such as the sailing and kayak clubs.
  • Our international culture embodies diverse colleagues who value teamwork and inclusion across business areas and borders. Our largest social society CONNECT, throws after-works and informal gatherings to get to know colleagues in other departments.
  • Remuneration: The internship will be unpaid if your master’s degree offers course credits for completing an internship. We will support you in ensuring that your internship meets the requirements stipulated to gain credits. If you do not receive course credits, the internship will be paid according to our rates corresponding to the number of years you have studied.

Stories from previous interns:

“While taking my Master’s in Energy, Environment and Society, I was determined to find a career path that would allow me to contribute to change the world for the better. Given DNV’s renowned expertise for setting the standard, I decided to apply for the internship position in Group Sustainability, Development and Climate back in 2021. I wanted to learn what reporting on carbon emissions really meant on a corporate level and it turned out to be a steep learning curve underpinned by an incredibly rewarding experience. During my internship I had the opportunity to learn more about how sustainability topics impact companies, how to collect, calculate and communicate carbon emissions from employee commuting and how to create engaging content on sustainability topics.”

About you

Who are we looking for?

You may have some or all the qualifications below, but tell us why you will be excellent as our next intern, and if you are right for our team we will shape the role to play to your strengths:

  • Genuine passion for sustainability, with some experience through relevant studies or projects
  • An analytical mind and good problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable using excel for analysis
  • Ability to work independently and connect with colleagues remotely

  • Open minded, curious and proactive
