DNV Energy Systems is seeking a Global Segment Lead Data Centres to drive our worldwide strategy and growth in this high priority segment. This leadership role owns value propositions and facilitates cross disciplinary sales to help hyperscalers, colocation providers, investors and utilities plan, connect, power and operate data centres reliably, efficiently and sustainably.

The Global Segment Lead will maintain a strong market and customer focus to drive sales and strengthen customer relationships. The role is accountable for market leadership, customer centricity, and resulting order intake in the assigned market areas, by ensuring that the right combination of resources is effectively deployed to meet customer needs.

Although this role does not include direct people management, close collaboration with the teams in the delivery organization, Heads of Department, Project Managers/Sponsors, and Key Account Managers is essential for delivering on segment responsibilities. The position reports to the Director, Business Development & Sales Enablement and works across the Power Grids, Renewables Advisory, Energy Management, Markets & Risk, and Digital Solutions service areas.

What You’ll Do

Commercial & Market

  • Work closely with the Sales Manager, KAMs, Regional Segment Leads, and GSALs to develop the annual Regional Operating Plan.
  • Support go‑to‑market execution across North America, Northern Europe, UK&I, APAC, and the Middle East by setting regional priorities and coordinating with Regional Segment Leads, KAMs, and delivery units.
  • Drive growth with strategic accounts - hyperscalers, colocation providers, investors, IPPs, and utilities - by building executive‑level relationships and multiyear roadmaps.
  • Build and maintain project references, value propositions, and capability statements that reinforce DNV’s leadership in the segment.
  • Develop market strategies for key customer segments, supporting cross‑ and up‑selling initiatives.
  • Gather deep customer insights, analyse competitor offerings, and monitor political and regional developments to inform strategic decisions.

Sales Execution & Opportunity Management

  • Shape and package offerings across the full lifecycle, including site selection & power availability, interconnection & compliance, behind‑the‑meter power & decarbonization (PV, BESS, microgrids), OE/IE services, technical due diligence, RAM/FMECA, digital twins, OT/IT cybersecurity, ESG, and climate risk.
  • Identify, drive, and facilitate sales opportunities by managing pipeline growth and increasing order intake in collaboration with KAMs and Market Area Managers.
  • Lead cross‑functional sales by mobilizing experts across Power Systems, Markets & Risk, Renewables, Energy, and Digital Solutions to deliver integrated, high‑value solutions.
  • Actively contribute to proposal development; influence pricing, resourcing, and bid‑quality reviews to ensure competitive and profitable offers.
  • Monitor and manage the sales funnel, optimizing customer experience and strengthening relationship metrics (CRSI).
  • Serve as project sponsor for key projects, ensuring high‑quality delivery and consistency across regions.
  • Collaborate with Regional Segment Leads and Service Area Leads to develop and deliver integrated, customerdriven solutions aligned with market needs.
  • Lead segment marketing and thought leadership by driving campaigns, reference cases, events, and flagship publications to increase DNV’s visibility in the datacentre community.

About you

What is Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, energy systems, business or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years in energy infrastructure and/or data centre development, with proven global or multi‑region leadership in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to engage credibly with C-level customers in hyperscalers, investors, utilities and developers, translating complex technical issues into clear business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success owning a go‑to‑market and scaling advisory or consulting services across regions.
  • Deep understanding of the data centre lifecycle (site, grid access, compliance, BTM power, OE/IE, TDD) and the power system implications of large loads.
  • Strong commercial acumen: pipeline development, solutioning, proposal leadership and negotiation.
  • Excellent written and verbal English; executive presence and customer‑facing communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 20–30%).

What is Preferred

  • Hands‑on experience with interconnection processes, grid code compliance and utility engagement in one or more regions (e.g., NERC/FERC in North America, UK/FLAPD, GCC, APAC).
  • Familiarity with HPC/AI densities, liquid cooling, energy‑efficiency strategies and operational risk.
  • Experience in M&A advisory, investor‑grade technical due diligence, and bankable reporting.
  • Exposure to ESG/climate risk, RAM/FMECA, digital twins, and OT/IT cybersecurity for critical infrastructure.
  • Track record building/leading globally distributed teams and partner ecosystems.
