ZEM was established in 2009 by key people from the Norwegian electric car manufacturer THINK. Based on the experience gained from the production of 2500 THINK cars, we have developed a market-leading electric and hybrid powertrain for smaller ships that we are now experiencing great demand for.

We work closely with leading suppliers of batteries, electric motors and power electronics and have developed our own PLC-based management and control system. The staff consists of seniors with long experience from battery and electric powertrains and younger engineers who have been recruited straight from school.

The majority owner of ZEM is Volvo Penta and through the Volvo system we get access to both technology, resources and a solid capital base. We have had 50% annual growth in recent years and with good profitability. ZEM is located in modern office premises in Veritas Park at Høvik in Bærum.
