About the role

Ship Classification covers Classification and Statutory services and provides governance, support, and development of our global work processes NB, CMC, and FIS in addition to carrying out approval within these processes. Ship Classification is the backbone of the Maritime Business consisting of 6 units: Approval, Technical Support, Class Development, Quality, HSE and Class Services, and Regulatory Affairs.

The Approval (M-SA) organization consists of 6 departments and 4 Central functions spread across 3 key locations: Høvik, Hamburg and Gdynia. Approval is responsible for plan approval of classification and statutory documents as well as other formal review of documentation related to classification, statutory and notified certification services. Approval also helps to drive and develop new services to Maritime customers.

The section Project Administration, part of the department Precontract and PMA (M-SA-PM) within Approval Unit in Ship Classification, is seeking a skillful, curious and agile Document Controller. You will be part of our cross-border team of highly qualified colleagues, who are responsible for digital distribution of technical drawings within the maritime approval organization.

The main responsibilities of the section are:

  • Document control and registration of drawings submitted for approval, both for ship NB and conversions/alterations
  • Administrative- and quality evaluation of technical documentation for NB, FiS, conversions and alterations, including revision check
  • Distribution of technical documents within global DNV organization
  • Support to the project management team, approval experts and our customers
  • Building design and vessel PMODs
  • Control and support to the organization on quality and accuracy of PMOD
  • Execute PMOD changes due to vessel modifications

Tasks / Responsibilities:

As a part of our team you will be involved in our main deliveries and responsibilities, such as:

  • Support and assist the project management team, approval experts and our customers
  • Perform administrative evaluation of technical documentation received from the customer
  • Identify technical disciplines, multidiscipline content, and check if the received documentation is within the agreed scope
  • Check that document quality corresponds with the DNV Maritime Production Platform which is constantly under development
  • Distribute evaluated technical documents within global DNV organization
  • Actively cooperate and communicate in a multicultural cross-border team
