Development Engineer

Nammo is an international aerospace and defense company, headquartered in Raufoss, Norway. We are one of the world’s leading providers of specialty ammunition and propulsion systems for defense and space applications. Nammo Raufoss is the largest development and manufacturing hub. The R&D department consists of close to 150 highly skilled engineers who develop products used for tactical rocket motors, ammunition, and space propulsion. Our technologies include monopropellant, hybrid propellant, solid propellant and air-breathing propulsion systems. New products are developed using advanced material technologies, complex and innovative designs, state of the art analysis tools, electronic safety and control mechanisms, modern processing, production and in-house test capabilities.

Nammo Raufoss is a company in significant growth. The R&D department is now looking for several talented engineers with one or more the following areas of competence:

Composite Modeling: Lightweight composite structures are increasingly important to our products. We have a new production line for winding composite structures in operation, and we need to develop composite modeling capabilities within the Abaqus software.

Structural Analysis: Our products require designs that withstand the high structural loads they are subject to during operation. We have a group of dedicated structural engineers using Abaqus as their main tool, and we are now looking to strengthen this group.

Ballistic Analysis: We have an established group of engineers doing solid rocket motor internal ballistic analysis. We need to strengthen this group, and are looking for candidates with a background within propulsion engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, physics or similar.

Thermal Analysis: Thermal loads are important to the structure and performance of our products. We are using Comsol as our main tool for thermal analysis. We are looking for candidates with a background within heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, physics or similar to strengthen our capabilities in this field.

Main responsibilities and tasks:

You will participate in a project team where you will be the responsible engineer within your discipline(s). As an analysis engineer, you will support projects by defining the relevant analyses, performing analyses and communicating results to the project team and to the customer. In our team, you will contribute to the development of advanced technological products with high performance requirements designed to operate under extreme conditions. You will follow the product from the design phase through qualification and into serial production.

Qualifications:

MSc or PhD within relevant fields. BSc or other relevant technical background may be considered.
