About the role
Group Contracts Advisory is a centralized function established to provide high quality contract review, negotiation and support to the following DNV business areas: Maritime, Business Assurance, Supply Chain & Product Assurance, and Cybersecurity.
The Group Contracts Advisory function consists of a global team of full time contracts professionals organized in a distributed team comprising 3 regions: Region Americas, Region Europe and Region MEAPAC (Middle East and Asia PAC). The Group Contracts Advisory function is headed by the Group Legal Director at the DNV Group headquarters in Norway and reports to the Group CFO.
Contracts Advisor - Region Europe
The Contract Advisor (CA) is part of the Group Contracts Advisory – Region Europe team and will report to the Region Europe Team Lead. In this role you will provide the formal contract review, risk analysis, negotiation and conclusion of contracts as well as modifications or qualifications to DNV standard terms and conditions.
Working alongside highly qualified contract professionals who are passionate about their work and supportive in nature, you will ensure that contracts are aligned with business area contracting principles and processes, including facilitating any approvals and exceptions that may need to be obtained in accordance with the business area chart of authority. You will serve as point of contact for legal/contracts counterparts in customer organizations, ensure efficient internal collaboration and interface management.
You will work closely with the Group Legal lawyers in the region and will have a unique opportunity to combine advancing your career through the breadth of contract issues you would expect at a truly international company.
Location: This position will be based in either of Arnhem, Netherlands, Hamburg, Germany, or Høvik/Oslo, Norway offices, offering a hybrid work arrangement. Some limited domestic and international travel may be required.
Expectations:
- Review and negotiate deviations from DNV standard templates, as well as customer terms and conditions for compliance with DNV preferred contracting position.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to provide guidance on the interpretation and application of standard DNV contracts as well as customer contracts.
- Identify commercial risks and ensure that they are communicated to and understood by stakeholders within the business.
- Act as a liaison between the business and customers in contract negotiations, including direct negotiations with customer stakeholders.
- Provide support, advice, and solutions to the project team on contractual matters.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, and build positive working relationships.

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, business, paralegal qualification or relevant area is preferred but not mandatory.
- In lieu of a degree, at least (5) years’ experience in contract review, revision & negotiation.
- Experience in contract drafting and negotiation, including an in-depth understanding of contract provisions.
- Experience and/or demonstrably strong interest in the key industries DNV operates, especially pertaining to maritime, assurance, sustainability and ESG services would be an advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required, both domestic and international
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Professional proficiency in English mandatory.
- Professional legal proficiency in German or Dutch is also mandatory.
- Proficiency in Italian, Spanish or Portuguese are a plus.
- Professional proficiency in any other commonly used business language is considered an advantage, but not mandatory.
