About the role

DNV is seeking a Communications Manager, DNV Foundation and DNV Ventures to develop and drive a coherent, strategic approach to communications, marketing, and positioning for two strategically important entities within DNV. This role will be instrumental in building awareness, credibility, and engagement around the Foundation Det Norske Veritas’ research funding activities and DNV Ventures’ investment portfolio and ecosystem.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and executing communications strategies, positioning and producing high-quality content, managing digital channels, and supporting key engagement activities such as launches, events, and investor interactions. The role requires strong strategic judgment combined with hands-on execution capabilities.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen the positioning of Foundation Det Norske Veritas’ and DNV Ventures’ activities, supporting cutting-edge research, innovation, and growth.

The role will report to the Chief Communications Officer with additional reporting lines to the Venture Director of DNV Ventures. This position is based in Høvik, Norway.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy & Positioning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies for Foundation Det Norske Veritas and DNV Ventures, aligned with DNV’s overarching brand and communications principles
  • Define clear narratives, messages, and value propositions for both entities, tailored to relevant target audiences (research community, partners, investors, startups, wider stakeholders)
  • Act as a strategic communications advisor to the Foundation and Ventures teams

DNV Foundation – Focus Areas

  • Build position and awareness around Foundation Det Norske Veritas’ research funding activities, including new funding initiatives and calls
  • Develop compelling content that communicates purpose, impact, and outcomes of funded research
  • Manage and develop communication assets including:
    • Website content and updates
    • Presentations and briefing materials
    • Social media (SoMe) content and campaigns
    • Case stories, articles, and impact narratives
  • Support the Foundation team with all communication-related tasks, ensuring consistency, quality, and effectiveness.

DNV Ventures – Focus Areas

DNV Ventures’ key objective is to create learning and strategic value from its investment portfolio towards DNV. As such, spreading the learning from individuals in DNV to the larger DNV community is a clear goal. In addition, ensuring that DNV is regarded as an attractive investor in the external market, to enable us to invest in top quality companies.

  • Create internal learning opportunities and knowledge sharing:
    • Own and manage DNV Ventures' internal communications channels including intranet, ViVa Engage
    • Support planning and execute internal learning events to share insights from startup and business area collaborations/startup partnerships, such as: Lunch and Learns, webinars, Strategic owner gatherings and founder roundtables
  • Strengthen DNV's brand as an attractive investor in the startup system:
    • Own and coordinate DNV Ventures' external messaging and storytelling, taking full responsibility for content creation across writing, video, photo and graphic design
    • Produce and maintain high-quality content for the DNV Ventures external website (CMS Optimizely)
    • Create content for DNV's LinkedIn account showcasing investments, partnerships and success stories and align with portfolio companies in relation to joint communication/announcements
    • Support planning and execute external events to build credibility as an investor in key investment focus areas, for example Trust in AI, Energy Transition, the Nordic and European CVC community.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Group Communications, brand, digital, and marketing colleagues within DNV
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate communications

About you

  • A university degree (BA or Master) in Communication, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or related roles, preferably in a corporate, innovation, investment, research, or technology-driven environment.
  • Experience in developing and executing communications strategies.
  • Strong content development skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear and engaging narratives.
  • Experience with digital communications (incl. use of AI), including websites and social media
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Strategic, yet hands-on and execution-oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Norwegian.
  • Structured, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to quality, consistency, and detail.
