About the role
We are looking for a hull approval engineer to join the hull group in the section Hull – Ocean Space Operation Vessels (M-SA-SO) and to become a part of the DNV team of world leading professionals working with safety and strength of ship structures.
M-SA is the Approval Organization within Maritime Ship Classification and consists of more than 400 employees, located mainly in Norway (Ålesund and Høvik), Germany (Hamburg) and Poland (Gdynia). The main services delivered by the Approval Centre are approval, verification, and certification services for ship newbuilding, systems and components.
Department Ship Structures & Stability (M-SA-S) is a part of M-SA and is organized in 5 sections, where one of the sections is Hull – Ocean Space Operation Vessels (M-SA-SO). M-SA-SO has 18 skilled employees responsible for hull approval of special vessels like fishing vessels, offshore service vessels, support vessels, tugs, barges and pontoons. Driven by the employees’ competence and motivation to help and support our customers through consistent delivery of high-quality services. As a member of the M-SA community you will work with professional, service-oriented colleagues, with unique possibilities to develop both deep and broad technical competence, and to build relations to a wide network of experts across geographical locations and technical disciplines.
The key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Approval of hull structure
- Development and maintenance of Class Rules and other similar service documents
- Technical support to customers and our network of stations around the world
- Pre-contract services, early concept review and marketing initiatives
- Development of new maritime services

About you
- BSc or MSc within relevant disciplines (marine technology, structural engineering or similar)
- Strong interest in ship structures, FEM structural analysis, safety, and innovation
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
- Customer oriented
- Open-minded team player with a positive attitude who strive to obtain results for the team
- Good communication skills
- Motivated and eager to expand your skills
