About the role
We are looking for an Approval Engineer based in either Oslo or Hamburg to join our team.
As an Approval Engineer in our unit, you will become part of a highly qualified team focusing on navigational safety. We perform plan approval of navigation and GMDSS equipment as well as internal communication systems for new buildings and fleet in service. We co-operate with our approval centres in Asia for the approval of ships and offshore units.
As an Approval Engineer, you will:
- Work on statutory matters on behalf of flag states (SOLAS, MODU Code, HSC Code, SRtP, Torremolinos, COLREG etc.) and DNV’s nautical safety class notations - NAUT (OSV, OC, AW).
- Interact directly with yards, designers, and colleagues worldwide.
- Join a highly qualified team focused on navigational safety.
- Provide expert assistance to internal and external customers.
- Work on development projects and new technologies such as vessels with Wind Assisted Propulsions Systems (WAPS) and autonomous vessels.
- Receive training to acquire relevant competencies to be able to work independently.

About you
We are looking for a motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- MSc or BSc in maritime disciplines, navigation, or a similar field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience, including seagoing experience
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Dedication to navigation, communication, and innovative solutions.
- Flexibility with work tasks and the ability to adapt to different situations.
